Recently stayed in Panama City Beach & Hook’d was one of the higher rated seafood restaurants in the area. I’m happy that the solid reviews were correct. Atmosphere is great as you’re right on the beach & while service was a little slow, our waitress was kind. Food prices are probably a couple dollars higher than average but nothing crazy for being in a heavy tourist area. We had the fried grouper sandwich & blackened mahi sandwich. Both were prepared well, ingredients were fresh & flavorful. Also ordered some hush puppies for our daughter and while those were pretty dense, the flavor was still good. Overall, a good dinner & experience, would recommend if you’re in the area ✌🏻
Such a cute little beach side restaurant! With quite a bit of outdoor seating, there are plenty of views to take in. I had their blackened chicken tacos, but I loved all of the combinations and choices you had on the menu. Their chicken tacos were delicious, and my friends that I was with couldn't say enough good things about their dishes too (grouper tacos and chicken alfredo). Their drink menu was also a hit, albeit kinda pricey for drinks, but everything was delicious!
The taste is delicious, the food is great but the service was quite lacking. I have no complaints about the atmosphere. It took them 20 minutes to even give me a menu and after I have ordered something, they took the menu away and gave me the bill without even asking if i needed a dessert or anything more. The servers here are the worst and felt like they owned the place
Hook'd was pretty good as far as dining in a high traffic tourist area goes. I feel the fried shrip could have used a but more seasoning in the batter. I'm giving the service a three because I had to ask for ketchup three times. They eventually brought it to me me but not before I walked to another table to get it myself. Our server was really nice, and once our order was taken, the food came out quickly. Atmosphere wise, it's great! You can sit outside by the water or inside, and they have all kinds of torches burning for ambiance. I'd come back again.
Loved this little place! Right on the beach with a gorgeous view. We had the fried alligator tacos and grilled Mahi Mahi tacos. All delicious and fresh. I cannot remember our servers name (pregnancy brain) but he has worked there for 11 years. Him and the rest of the team had amazing team work to get everyone in and out as efficiently as possible. All the staff was super nice and friendly. We will be going back on our next trip. :)
Last meal before a plane ride out of town. Ordered shrimp baskets & a crab cake. The crab cake was absolutely delightful & the sauce that came with it was heavenly. The shrimp was perfectly breaded and fried. The fries had a lovely light breading and well fried. We're good & crunchy even cold hours later. The only hiccup was some of the hush puppies were over fried & a bit too dark for our liking. Once showing our server she promptly went and got us new ones that were not over cooked. The hush puppies were very delicious. Will for sure be back on our next trip.
Stopped in for lunch before checking in to our condo. We got there when the place opened. We were seated outside quickly. Server immediately came by asking for our drink order and if were ready to order, we just sat down. He brought our drinks quickly and took our order. We ordered and food came out quick. I had the Blackened Grouper tacos with chips and salsa, they were okay, a little mushy. My wife had the Shrimp Tacos with slaw, again just okay. Our server never came by, until he brought the check. We needed some silverware Food was priced in line with most other places. Overall, it was just okay! Really wanted it to be awesome and it wasn't! We felt like we were being rushed from walking in. And paper straws, oh how I loathe them.
We had friends come in from out of town and decided to stay on the beach. After walking the pier and browsing reviews, we decided to give Hook'd a shot. The entrance was a little confusing and cluttered - most people were trying to get in line for the pineapple drinks, and that caused some congestion for getting a table. Once we were seated our server was really friendly and helpful - because we had never ordered them before, we all got a mixed drink in a pineapple (heads up, the pineapple adds $7 to whatever drink you get) - I'm not sure what others ordered to get fruit added on top, but ours didn't really have extra fruit on it. Oh well, the mermaid water and the punch were really tasty - sweet, but a nice drink for a vacation afternoon. My husband and I ordered the inferno wings, and grouper sandwiches (one fried, one blackened) with fries. The fish and fries were great - fish was fresh and the fries seemed to be double fried and soft on the inside. Our friends got tacos, which they enjoyed as well. It was on the expensive side, but it was fresh, tasty, and the service was good - more than I expected in a very touristy spot! Would certainly go again for those wings and fish.
